Fairy tales have always been about getting through the worst of everything, the darkest and the deepest and the bloodiest of events. They are about surviving, and what you look like when you emerge from the trial. The reason we keep telling fairy tales over and over, that we need to keep telling them, is that the trials change. So the stories change too, and the heroines and villains and magical objects, to keep them true. Fairy tales are the closets where the world keeps its skeletons.

1. Do the Fairy Tales have to be variants on old/standard fairy tales, or can they be original in plot, characters, etc.?
2. If a story is accepted, is the anthology asking only first publication rights, or others as well? 3. If a story is accepted, is there compensation to (or from) the author, of any sort? 4. Will this be a print anthology, online, or both? |
1. This collection will feature both variants on traditional fairy tales as well as brand new Tales that have original plots & characters.
2. At this point we ask for first publication rights only, as well as permission for an audio version of the book. This could change depending on which publisher we go with. 3. Compensation for writers will be the publication credit and five copies of the book. This could change upward, depending on the contract with the publisher. 4. Print and (hopefully) audio; we have no plans to publish online. |
